What is Calcium Gluconate?
Calcium Gluconate Injection is used for Muscle cramping, Hypocalcemia related to hypoparathyroidism, Hypocalcemic tetany, Hypocalcemia due to rapid growth or pregnancy, Adjunct in the treatment of rickets, Osteomalacia, Magnesium sulfate overdosage and other conditions. Calcium Gluconate Injection may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Calcium Gluconate Injection Uses
Calcium Gluconate Injection is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms:
· Muscle cramping
· Hypocalcemia related to hypoparathyroidism
· Hypocalcemic tetany
· Hypocalcemia due to rapid growth or pregnancy
· Adjunct in the treatment of rickets
· Osteomalacia
· Magnesium sulfate overdosage

Calcium Gluconate Injection is composed of the following active ingredients (salts)

The following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur from all constituting ingredients of Calcium Gluconate Injection. This is not a comprehensive list. These side-effects are possible, but do not always occur. Some of the side-effects may be rare but serious. · Heat waves
· Tingling sensations
· Vasodilation
· Decreased blood pressure
· Bradycardia
· Cardiac arrhythmias
· Syncope
· Cardiac arrest
· Local necrosis
· Abscess formation

Calcium Gluconate Injection improves the patient's condition by performing the following functions:
· Regulating the release and storage of neurotransmitters and hormones.
Calcium Gluconate Injection - Precautions & How to Use
Before using Calcium Gluconate Injection, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.
· Administer the drug slowly
· Caution if you have renal impairment
· Caution in patients with renal impairment
· Do not give intravenous injection of calcium compound to a digitalized patient
· Inject the drug through a small needle into a large vein
· Intravenous use only
· Monitor for signs of nervous system and bone toxicity
· Product contains alumnium that may be toxic
